Course curriculum
- Duplex examination of the upper extremity arteries: examination protocol. Diagnosis of subclavian and axillary artery stenoses. The arterial form of anterior scalene muscle syndrome and TOS-associated aneurysms. Diagnosis of non-atherosclerotic diseases of the upper extremity arteries (hypothenar hammer syndrome, Raynaud syndrome, arteritides)
- Duplex examination of the superior vena cava system: examination protocol. Criteria for central vein thrombosis (superior vena cava, brachiocephalic, subclavian, internal jugular). Assessment of upper extremity thrombophlebitis. Paget-Schroetter thrombosis. Ultrasound diagnosis of dialysis fistulae (preoperative examination, postoperative follow-up)
- Duplex examination of the inferior vena cava and iliac veins. Criteria for thrombosis and neoplastic obstruction. Ultrasound assessment of the inferior vena cava filter (IVC filter)
The course covers standard Doppler examinations: ultrasound windows and standard vascular views. You will learn to assess flows and recognise haemodynamic changes in arterial pathology — confidently and systematically.
