Course curriculum

• Introduction to dizziness
• Definition of dizziness and its distinction from other symptoms. Epidemiology of dizziness. Classification of dizziness
• Physiology and anatomy of the vestibular system
• The middle ear, its system of cavities, the walls of the tympanic cavity and its contents, types of mastoid process structure, the auditory tube. Blood supply and innervation of the external and middle ear. The inner ear, its parts, the anatomy of the vestibule and semicircular canals of the cochlea, their blood supply
• Diagnosis of dizziness
• Patient interview and examination
• Main neurovestibular tests: Halmagyi test (head impulse test), skew deviation test, HINTS test, positional tests, caloric tests, Unterberger test
• Central vertigo
• Algorithm for interviewing a patient with vertigo, typical accompanying symptoms and features of the development of various diseases accompanied by vertigo. Analysis of patients' clinical cases
• Peripheral vertigo
• Features of collecting complaints and history in patients with dizziness. Analysis of clinical cases of patients
• Most common causes of vertigo in peripheral vestibular system pathology: benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, vestibular neuronitis, neurovascular conflict
• Non-vestibular dizziness: causes, diagnosis and treatment
