  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Definition and relevance of IBD
  • The role of genetics, microbiota and environmental factors in the development of IBD
  • Pathogenesis: cascade of inflammatory reactions, pro-inflammatory cytokines, impairment of the mucosal barrier function
  • Diagnostic methods: significance of fecal calprotectin, pANCA, ASCA
  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Classification and severity of the disease
  • Main symptoms, complications (toxic dilatation, colorectal cancer)
  • Diagnostic methods: Truelove-Witts and Mayo indices, endoscopy, histology
  • Treatment: conservative therapy, the role of diet, indications for surgical interventions
  • Crohn's disease
  • Etiology and mechanisms of inflammation: transmural involvement, sarcoid granulomas
  • Diagnosis: capsule enteroscopy, radiology
  • Treatment: corticosteroids, biological therapy, surgical methods (strictureplasty, abscess drainage)
  • Prevention of complications and maintenance of remission
  • Interpretation of clinical cases and patient management algorithms
  • Case analysis: management of patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease

Inflammatory bowel disease often masquerades as functional disorders for years, while the patient loses quality of life in the meantime. The course helps you to suspect IBD earlier and not miss complications, relying on modern diagnostic criteria.

You will navigate step-up therapy and biologic agents more confidently and competently maintain remission, building long-term trust with the patient.
